My great, great grandfather, George Washington Vest, married Parthenia Thurman Glasscock on Mar. 4, 1836, in Alabama. She was the daughter of Thomas Glasscock, and her mother was a Brannon; the Glasscocks were related to Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy.G.W. Vest was a Methodist Protestant preacher, church-starter, and evangelist. He was born in Jasper Co., Ga.They had eleven children, one of whom, a son, died in infancy. The boys were Phaton, Britton (my great-grandfather), Capel, Asbury, Jasper, and Harvey. The daughters were Nancy, who married James Hanna, Amanda, who married William Simmons, Douie, who died in young womanhood, never married, and Elizabeth (listed as Betty in my info) Victoria, who married Aaron Meek. Both George W. and wife Parthenia died in Capitan, NM, she in 1902, and he in 1903; they are buried in a cemetery there that was new when she died, as she was said to be the first to be buried there. It is described as being at the foot of El Capitan Mt.I have other interesting information about George and Parthenia's lives if you're interested, but don't know anything else about Elizabeth Meek.
