I have your grandfather as Mose Verville. I don't know who told me the story (a Verville from UP Michigan) but Mose Verville and his wife Amelia Mars traveled to Deadwood SD. There he struck it rich with a gold claim but was subsequently robbed of it by a large mining company. He apparently spent the rest of his life and all his money trying to gain back the claim through the courts.
