Orange Co., Ind., Vernons
Posted by: Amanda Vernon (ID *****4370) Date: January 24, 2008 at 20:11:33

Vernon is my married name. My husband is a descendant of Joseph Vernon (1820, Bellmont, OH) who came to Indiana and settled on land here (which is still in the family and owned by my father-in-law and his brother) in an area known as Valeene in Orange County, Ind. I am looking for information on Joseph's second wife, Mary Richardson, as she appeared to have been of native american ancestry and I wondered what tribe, if any, she might be from and what her lineage was. I have LOTS of Vernon info and may also be of some help to beginners. There are no other Vernons in this area, now, that I am aware of. Most went to Iowa decades ago. Thanks!
