Looking for an Arthur Vernon...

I have hit a brick wall fairly early on in my research on my father's family. My grandfather's name was Francis Hugh Vernon, possibly born in Boston in 1910. His parents were Arthur Vernon who, we're told, lived for a time in Montana and died in the 20's or 30's in California and Vera Betterman of Pennsylvania (also died in California, but in the 40's, I think). Their other children were Paul and Dorothy.
Many other family members have tried to find Arthur, but we have had little luck.
Any info would be helpful, thanks.
