Ida Vernon -Nevada
Posted by: Janet Phillips (ID *****5535) Date: July 20, 2007 at 12:00:51

From a book: "Ghosthunters of Virginia City"
Author: Janice Oberding
ISBN: 0-9721626-0-7
Page 132

A young women named Ida Vernon became addicted to opium. On the morning of Feb. 6, 1868 she was found dead at the Bow Windows brothel. This happened on "D" St. in Virginia City, Nevada. Her death was never determined accidental or suicide.

I was in Virginia City last weekend and bought the book. During those Gold Rush times, many people left home to go west. I sort of assume many disappeared. If this is someone's ancestor, I hope this info helps.
