My paternal great-grandmother was Maria Eugenie Vernier, born c. 1859, married William A. Francis
(presumably before 1880 in New Orleans). Her husband was a ships's steward, native of the Dutch
EAST Indies and born in Holland (according to the birth record of their eldest son, Peter).

According to the 1900 New Orleans census they had 8 children:
Peter Joseph Francis, (my grandfather) born, July 25, 1880 died in flu pandemiic 1917
Adrien Francis
Antonetta Francis
Modeste Francis
Frank Francis
Retta Francis
John C or G. Francis (could the "C" be for Charles??)
William Francis

BIG QUESTION!
Is *my* Maria Eugenie the same woman as *your* Mary Eugenia, your grandmother's half-sister????
Waiting with bated breath!
