I am trying to determine if Dora Vermillion (b. abt. 1814) to Greenberry Garrison and Jane (Vanander) Vermillion was a female or a male. The 1850 Loudon County, VA, census shows on page 196A a Dora Vermillion, male, age 36, married to a woman named Jane, age 27, and the couple has five children. I am trying to determine if this Dora Vermillion may have been a son (instead of a daughter as records currently show) of Greenberry G. and Jane Vermillion. I have also seen this Dora and Jane Vermillion listed in the 1860 census of Loudon County under the names Dorcy and Jane Vermillion.
If you have information that could clarify this for me, I would be most appreciative as it could possibly tie together an entire line of Vermillion family descendants who, heretofore, have remained unattached.
