"Texas Jack" Vermillion/"Soapy" Smith

I am the great grandson of badman Jefferson Randolph "Soapy" Smith- I wonder if there were two "Texas Jack" Vermillions? A "Shoot-Em-In-The-Eye" Jack Vermillion (gee, wonder how he got that handle?), joined "Soapy's" gang in Denver in 1888-89. He was involved, with Soapy, in the 1889 Pocatello, Idaho train depot shoot-out with a rival gang. Ed Burns of Tombstone also joined the soap gang. Vermillion dropped out of the gang soon afterwards. Do you think this could be your family, and where can I learn more about him?

Visit my website for the Soapy Smith history, in which I talk about the Pocatello gunfight and Vermillion.
