If I could just read, I would be dangerous. You were quite clear in stating that it was Elias mentioned as being born in VA in the death certificate of Hezekiah. I agree with you that the 1850 Bracken Co KY census says he was born in KY and I have in my records that this was also in the 1860 Bracken Co KY census (page 043). I didn't make a copy of this page, so I may have written down KY in error.

William C. Washburn also has in his genealogy report that Elias Perry Vermillion was born in 1818 in KY. I have a Vermillion genealogy from Wayne Vermillion that states that Elias was born 30 Oct 1818 in Brooksville, Bracken KY. Wayne didn't give his sources, however.

I still feel most comfortable with KY- but that is just my feeling, not a genealogical fact. Next time, I will try to read more carefully.
