Carol B.

The man who preached that day, long ago in Altoga, was my grandfather, Edwin luther Griffin, son of George and Margaret. My mother and dad were Willie Erwin and Eva Mae (Bagwill) Griffin. I began elementary school in Altoga in 1947. Back in 1994 my interest was stirred about my grandfather's disappearance in 1915; to the point that I began to search for my roots. I live north of Bonham, Tx., and looking in the phone book one day, I saw the name Vermillion. Upon calling and inquiring, the lady (?) referred me to the woman in Van Alstyne, whom I believe, was Mrs. Cate. I will never, ever forget her words, "I heard Luther Preach!" I Hope that someday I shall meet her when I go to be with the Lord. To sum up, with full heart and tearing eyes, it still thrills me to recall it from eight plus years ago. I also preach. Though I no longer pastor, I have a Tuesday evening session with the patients (addictions programs) at the Bonham Veterans center. It's the high point of each week. Thank you and your family members for doing such exhaustive and rewarding work. Only tonight as I found an 1820 census in Macon Co. North Carolina that shows James V., did I refer again to your page which I have stored on my computer. I am truly a novice at gen research, tho the thrills, quite outweigh the frustrations.

Thank all of you again. I would be delighted to hear from you.

Archie Griffin
