Hurrah!! My e-mail is finally straightened out!! Once you read this, you can reply to my email address if you would like or continue posting here.
Again, my Basil's connection to this family is not certain but because of the match in dates and marriages between Leonard and Lemuel and between Judson and Jordan, I am almost sure we are related.
Your statement that there may have been bad blood between Fielding and William because of the Civil War is interesting. Whose side did each one support? Unfortunately, I don't know a whole lot about Basil other than he does show up in Warren County marriage records and in census records for Warren County in at least 1850. I don't really know that he ever did leave Virginia. All of his children seem to have been born and stayed to marry in Virginia. However, Judson's wife Mary did die in Ohio (I'm not sure about Judson), so maybe he was the one who went to Ohio with your William.
There definitely were intermarriages between Kidwells, Vermillions, and Ridgeways. My family is peppered with them. Basil Vermillion married Caroline Ridgeway. I also descend from Hezekiah Kidwell who married Elizabeth Ridgeway. She is the sister of Nancy Ridgeway, Leonard Vermillion's wife. You mentioned that Mary Vermillion may have married a Loveless. There are a lot of Loveless/Lovelace intermarriages with the Ridgeways and Vermillions also.
Let me know if there is anything in my research that would help. I have info as far as dates, marriages, and children for most of Leonard's family.
