Samuel Vermillion is my ancestor. Here are a few facts about him.He is son of James, and grandson of Giles.Samuel was born in America in 1754, and was a Rev soldier. He was taken prisoner by the British, but escaped after a few months and returned to duty.Hi received a pension starting 6 6 1833, having served as a private in the MD Militia, receiving $80 annually, withpension starting at age 79.He married
Amy Hill, daughter of Richard Hill and Drucilla McShowe. They had a daughter, Eleanor Vermillion, born 10 24 1791, who married John Palmer, son of Jesse Palmer and Elizabeth Hoffman of Buncombe Co NC, grandson of George Palmer and Elizabeth Wyatt. There were 2 sons, James D and another whose name I can't recall, and I believe they went to Arkasas.I have a letter somewhere that mentions their leaving NC.I hope this is helpful, and I surely hope someone will find something on Richard Hill and Drucilla McShowe. My family had only their names and that they were from France and Ireland.Best wishes.
Jane Keller
