Sandi, I would like to contact your branch of the family. I am struck by two things that seem to be repeated over and over. One the "brothers" story about coming to this country and two: How many members of the extended Vermillion family are or were Baptist ministers. I am descended from a Mason Vermillion who was a circuit riding minister along the Indiiana/Illinois frontier in the early 1820's and I know that at least 3 of his brothers were ministers as well. This lends credence to the notion that they were French Huguenots (Calvinists) and that the family had settled temporarily in Wales. One other thing, I have been told about the Vermillion surname being used in Louisiana and being an Acadian or Cajun name. Don't know if there is a connection or not.

Les Vermillion
