My ancestors were Weir from Lesmahagow. Wm. Weir married Mary Lewers and his youngest son James was my ggg grandfather having migrated to Ontario, Canada in 1833 along with his 7 brothers and sisters and their families at that time and his Mother Mary Lewers Weir. The father William Weir apparently died in Lin Mill on the Clyde River, Lesmahagow. Apparently some of the family lived at Woodyett Farm on the Stonebyres Estate at Lesmahagow.

I do not know who was William Weir's Ancestors but he named his first daughter Jane Weir bn. 1799. So Jane or Jean (somebody) were likely maternal ancestors.
George Weir was the first son, and Elizabeth Weir was the second Daughter.

The eldest son of Wm. & Mary Lewers was George Weir was living at Carnwath with his wife and family. So is the family linked to Carnwath?

Does anyone know the missing links?
