Hi Glenn:
I am researching Verys from the New Albany, IN area who came out of NH and VT areas.
My g grandmother was Mary Louisa Very, dau. of Martin Very.Martin Very was b. 1807 in Vermont. He maried 1. Eliza Jane Graham and had 9 children and 2.Julia Ann Graham and had 7 more children. He owned a sawmill and later became the Capt. of the steamboat "Ruby".I have a copy of a letter he wrote to his 1st wife while aboard the "Ruby", plus old photos of some family members circa 1860's.

Francis Very was the son of Francis Very Jr., b. 1745 in Winchester, NH, who married Rebecca Symonds. They had 8 children.I found mention of a Bridget Very (who might have been the right age to be the grandmother of Francis) thought to be from England who married into the Giles family. While all the names match, there is a one generation gap between that info and the info I have, so I can't prove it.I have also found a reference to the Very family in IN which says they were of French descent.
