Hi Lou,

My great-grandfather was Adorno Ventura, and my great-grandmother was Antonio ("Antoinette") Brandimarti. Your father-in-law, Ronald John Ventura ("Uncle Ron" :), is the brother of my late grandmother, Constance Ann Ventura Opalanko. So I guess your husband and my mother, Carol, are cousins!

I have found the original ship's manifests listing both Adorno (misspelled Aderno) and Antonio when they came to Ellis Island. These documents can be found at, a fantastic resource! Adorno came to Pittsburgh, PA in 1913, and sent for Antonio, who arrived in 1922. They came from Acquasanta in southern Italy. Many other Brandimartis and Venturas came as well.

You can e-mail me at if you want more info.
