Richard - My grandfather(Thomas William) was the grower of the gooseberry mentioned!!.He was married to Flora Hodgson and they lived at Mass House Egton for many years. His father ran the pub at the top of Egton, and his grandfather(my great, great grandfather) lived till his 102nd year. There is a picture of him on his 100th birthday hanging on the wall of the community centre in Goathland. My father (Raymond) married Kathleen Rutland from Slieghts and they spent the next 22 years in the Army based in Africa.Germany and Singapore. My mother passed away 8 years ago but my father is still hale and hearty and living in York.He was one of a family of 5 - Christine(Relf),Ruth(Thompson),Thomas (lived in Whitby all his life),and Donald (ran the gardens at Newby Hall). They all have children (one is a grandmother !!) who mostly live in North Yorkshire.I live near Crewe in Cheshire(31 years now)and have 3 children. If anybody knows any of us please let me know. Thanks
