Discovered this past weekend that Joe (who may have been Giuseppe when coming into the US) and Trifone may have been using their mother's (maiden?) name PAGONE when they first arrived in the US.
In searching the ship manifests for Ellis Island, I'd only found an entry for Trifone coming back in the 1920's after a visit home to his mother, Bruna PAGONE, in Montrone, Italy. On a whim, I searched the name PAGONE and found a Giuseppe, Trifone and two Nicola's (one male, one female) from Montrone in the early 1900's. The ages for Giuseppe & Trifone match up with what we know of my grandfather & uncle.
Will be heading to NY soon and will be visiting Ellis Island in person.
