I am trying to tidy up my ancestral Venns starting from a John Venn B Oct 1786 somewhere in Devon. He married Elizabeth Winter B 12 Feb 1793 in Dymock,Glos. on 9 Dec 1809 in St.Mary's Magdalene's, Bermondsey, they had 6 children,John James (1811-1877),Elizabeth Catherine Hannah (1811-1848), Robert Charles(1816-1870),Mary Ann(1820-1887),Sarah Esther(1832-1844), and Rosetta Matilda(1835-1866).
I have established links with descendants of John James, and Mary Ann, but am confused by an 1851 Census Image of a Jane Palmer B 1768 in Knowstone,Devon and her household at 122 Randles Rents,Rotherhithe that day show a mixture of Palmer,Venn and Jones descendants, with stated relationships of daughter and grand daughters, with births in Malin(Molland) and Rotherhithe.
As you mention a William Venn(1797-1843) marrying an Elizabeth Palmer at Molland 23 March 1815, this seems to infer a deeper relationship between the Venns and the Palmers in Molland and district.
The Jane Venn listed in the 1851 census with birthdate approx 1819, could be the Jane Venn christened 31 May 1818 in Molland, daughter of William Venn and Elizabeth Lowsell, married 14/7/1806 in Fenton Devon, but she is listed a a grand daughter of Jane Palmer in the census.
