Bermudez Family de Granada, Nicaragua

My husband, Dennis E. A. Keesee, has been researching his mother's Nicaraguense Bermudez family for several years. He is searching for any information, or a clue, how this Bermudez family came to Nicaragua from Spain. His research of the list of passengers to the New World from Spain for the period 1512 to 1709 did not provide any male (other than priests or friars)Bermudez family members coming to Nicaragua directly from Spain, with the exception of the ecomendero Diego bermudez in 1550 or so, but then there is no further record of him or family.

This leads him to believe they came through another Carribbean or Central American country? from South America (possibly as part of the Bermudez de Castro family from Venezuela?) or from Peru? or from Mexico?

If anyone has any data orinformation that could be helpful, they are asked to contact Dennis at email
