Info on LTC Carl Wagner, Military Air Attache to Caracas, 1943-45??
I am looking for any information on Carl and Christina Wagner. In 1943-45, Carl was a LTC in the USAAC and served in Venezuela with my father. My father thought a lot of Carl, so much so that my brother is named after him. But my father lost contact shortly after the war with "The Colonel", as he calls him. His full name was Carl Gordon Wagner.
Based on what my father tells me, Carl flew B-24's, possiblity with Doolittle's raiders, prior to being stationed in Venezuela. In 1943, he was the Military Air Attache to the U.S. Embassy in Caracas. Carl was also featured in a Time magazine article, in probably 1944, entitled "Hero" for a rescue mission involving a night landing on the Orinoco river in Venezuela.
My father would like very much to talk to either Carl or Christina if they are still alive, or if they have passed on, he would like some information on their lives after WWII. He would also like a copy of the Time magazine article.
Any help you can provide me will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.
