de Venables 1000-1100
Trying to sort out the original de VENABLES who came to England from Normandy, France. I have read from a number of websites that Gilbert de VENABLES(Gilbert VANATOR), youngest son of the then Count of Blois (Eudo BLOIS-CHARTES?), came from Normandy with William the Conqueror and became first Baron of Kinderton (Cheshire). He is shown on some sites as marrying Margery of Hatton and fathering William de Venables (second Baron of Kinderton?).
But there appears to have been two Gilbert de Venables, the first born c1009 and the second born c1050.
Margery of HATTON is shown as born c1055. She thererfore seems more likely to have been the wife of the second Gilbert de VENABLES.
Gilbert de VENABLES, third baron of Kinderton, married Margery Croxton) is shown as 1154-1190 - appearing to make him a contemporary (or the same as?) the second Gilbert.
Can anyone clarify this please?
