William Venible, Fort Pitt, 1761
Posted by: Ellen Venable Poteet Date: June 19, 2000 at 15:36:06

Does anyone know anything about William Venible who was listed in the April 14, 1761, census of Fort Pitt as head of a household? This was a brief and tantalizing clue from Charles Hanna's The Wilderness Trail, Vol. 2, page 361. At the time, according to Hanna, almost all the male inhabitants of Fort Pitt were Indian traders.
