i think the area that you should look at is "lincolnshire" for the "vause" name. although you might think it is from lancashire you must remember that around 1850's there was the "new fangled trains and that made it possible for people to move the way it is only about 50 miles beween the counties. my wifes ancestor comes from lincolnshire,a place called "stallingborough" she was called "mary vause" born 1740 and married to "john jaques"
i am waiting for the delivery of a 1851 census index booklet for the "caistor" area. if there are any families of "vause"name you can gladly have them. frank green
