Vassar Family of Southeast Texas?

I am looking for anything on the Vassars that ended up in southeast Texas. Don't know much about where they came from and only have grandparents names Willie Almer Hemby b. 28 Mar 1910, m. Gracie Lee Vassar b. 14 Nov 1912 (Gracie is buried in Mexia, TX). Their children were Frank, Sally, George (my father), Rose Marie, Patsy Sue, Linda Ann, and Mary Louise.

My father George claimed to have been born in Leon County but can find no proof as of yet.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as they seemed to have just fallen from the sky!
