HOW COOL!!! I, too, grew up hearing that I was related to the Vassars of Vassar college...but you know how family rumors go, so I never really put a lot of thought into it.

BUT now I have found out that we are pretty close cousins! My great grandfather was H. Grady Fowler son of Silas Fowler, son of Bryant Fowler, son of John B Fowler. Did you know that if you wind your way up the Abernathy tree (from Parthenia) that you will find--after a few hundred years--that we are DIRECTLY descended from John Rolfe and POCAHONTAS!!! I just found that out tonight and can't believe it.

ALSO through another upward line of Abernathys we are descended from King Edward the III!!! That's all the way back to the 1300s! I can't sleep because I am finding so many wonderful things out. I never dreamed that I'd find that my family tree is so well documented and easily accessed!

Which Fowler are you from? My grandfather was very close to Oscar (who was crippled in a horse accident at 12 but lead a full life, wrote a book about Haskill Co. OK). Maude Fowler was his sister & caretaker. Neither ever married.

Feel free to write back!
