My G-G-G-Grandmother was named Cynthia Jane Vasser. She was born abt
1825 most likely in Tennessee.

My information on the Vassers is very limited in fact it's mostly in
chunks that haven't been able to piece together.. My Great-Great-Great

Grandmother was Cynthia Jane Vasser. My earliest reference to her is
1840 in Cannon Co TN where she married a man named James Milligan . In
1842, she married Robert Patrick in Cannon Co. TN. By 1850 she was
living in Hardin Co TN. One of their children was (my GGGrandmother)
Tennesee Evelyn Patrick born in 1858 in Shelby Co. TN. By 1860, Cynthia

Vasser Patrick was living in Randolph Co Ark in the Current River TWP.
Also living in Randolph Co was Caswell Vasser. (I can't figure out if
this was Cynthia's brother, father or what. Also, I have not figured
out what happened to Robert Patrick, he may have died sometime between
1857 and 1860 since Tennesee was born in 1858.

The way that I found Cynthia was in a history book of Callaway County
Mo. There was a brief biography of her son-in-law Samuel Issac Jones
(Tennessee's Husband). In the article it says that Tennessee's mother
is Cynthia Vasser of Cumberland Valley TN. It also states that she and

her sister Elizabeth are the two remaining heirs to fine land in the
Cumberland River Valley. (It's kind of ambiguous, I'm not sure if
Elizabeth is Cynthia's sister or if she is Tennessee's sister.!)

I have a page from Tennessee land records that shows the following
Vasser info:
Casswell Vasser (HD) 1848
Daniel Vasser (W) 1839
John G. Vasser (HD) 1849
John G. Vasser (HD) 1849
Miles Vasser (FR) 1827

My grandmother used to say that we were descendants of President James
K. Polk. There are a couple of Polk families who lived in close
proximity to the Vassers and Patricks in Hardin Co. TN but so far, I
have not been able to find any evidence to support a connection to the
Polks. My grandmother also told us that her family came from Virginia
through the Cumberland Gap to settle in Tennessee. Incidently, the
descendents of Robert Patrick and Cynthia Vasser settled in Missouri in
the late 1860s in the St. Charles County area. I have been stuck on
these people for a while now and the Claiborne TN Vassers seem to be the

most likely ones for them to have come from.

I would love it if you would take a look at your Vassers to see if you
can find a connection!
