Vass Family Genealogy Forum

while researching my family tree I came across an intriguing note. My 5xgreat grandmother was sentenced to 8 days imprisonment in 1773 for aiding the escape of Lachlan Vass from prison. So I went on the net to find info on Lachlan Vass and all I could find was a mention on this forum. Apparently he emigrated and changed his name to Calder! I wonder what he was imprisoned for? By the way, my ancestor and her husband were living in Drainie, Moray at the time. Does anybody know the full story?
