On the New Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland website there is a picture of a Vass tombstone in the Auld Kirkyard cemetery. Go to: http://pub24.bravenet.com/photocenter/album.php?img=10347&usernum=2053048287 Click on "view full size" under the picture. The one person on this tombstone whose identity I can't figure out is "Margaret Vass, who died 30th Sept 1843 aged 29 years". This would make her birth date abt 1814. If so, she would be too old to be a daughter of William Vass and Margaret Park, unless William had another wife in his youth. It wouldn't make sense for her to be a sister of William, because Andrew and Grace (or Grezel) Vass already had a daughter Margaret born in 1808, when Grezel would have been 44 years old. It doesn't make sense for them to have another daughter named Margaret 6 years later. Does anyone know for sure if the Margaret born in 1808 lived to adulthood? Or at least past 1814? Please post a reply or e-mail me if you have more information on this. -Helen Notify Administrator about this message?
