The records of York County, VA mention a conveyance of land in York County by Robert2 Vaulx and Elizabeth his wife of Dorchester. This Robert2 may be the brother of John2 and James2 Vaulx of Dorchester. All three may be sons of James1 Vaulx Gent. of York County, VA whose wife was Elisheba who married secondly John Franke of Dorchester.

James1 may be the son of Robert Vaulx, merchant of London and Virginia, who died some time after 1685. This Robert was the brother of Thomas and Humphrey Vaulx (alias Vaus and Vause) who also immigrated to VA with Robert. All three were sons of James Vaulx of the parish of Marston Meysey in Wiltshire, England who died 17 Mar 1626/1627, and whose eldest son and heir was named Francis Vaulx. Before he died on 30 Jan 1631/2, Francis erected the monumental statue that still stands today in the parish church of St. Mary the Virgin in Meysey Hampton, Gloucestershire England, just across the border from Marston Meysey, Wiltshire.

Robert2 may be the father of Francis3 Vass/Voss who married Mary Eccleston, daughter of Hugh Eccleston of Dorchester who patented a 940 ac. tract call "Retaliation" on 5 Sep 1709. On his death, Hugh Eccleston left half of this tract to his daughter Mary and half to his daughter Rachel who married Walter Stevens. Francis3 Vass died some time between 12 Nov 1736 and 1 Jul 1745 although no record of the administration of his estate seems to have survived. Francis3 and Mary left a son, Robert4 Vass, who inherited his mother's half of the tract "Retaliation." It appears Robert4 married Ann (Nancy), last name unknown, some time prior to 28 Nov 1760 on which date Robert4 and Nancy conveyed their share of "Retaliation" to William Murray. Robert4 Vass was still living on 3 Dec 1763 when he witnessed a deed in Dorchester, but when or where he died is not known. His wife Nancy may be the person of that name who, along with Dolley Ewing, were listed as next of kin during the administration of the estate of Mary Thomas of Dorchester.

The above-mentioned John2 Vaulx may be the same man as the John Voss whose Dorchester estate was appraised on 3 Aug 1709 by Joseph Thomas and Humphrey Hubbord. Whether he married or had issue is not known.

James2 Vaulx was born about 1677 according to a deposition found in a Dorchester land cause. His Dorchester will is dated 24 Jan 1745 and it was proved 17 Feb 1745. His will mentions his wife Sarah, sons Ebenezer and John, daughters Margaret and Easter ( or perhaps Hester or Hasten), and grandson Josiah. His son James3 was not mentioned in his will because he too was probably dying from the same ailment as his father. A prerogative court proceeding on the estate of James2 mentions next of kin as John Vaulx (probably his son) and Benjamin Vaulx whose relationship to James2 is unknown. According to a deposition in a Dorchester land trial, Sarah was b.c. 1698 suggesting she was considerably younger than her husband who was b.c. 1677. So, James2 may have had one or more previous wives. Ebenezer was still living on 28 Feb 1767 when he executed a nine-year lease to James Breeding of Dorchester for a tract called "Smith's Chance." This transaction was witnessed by Isiah Vaulx. The will of a John Vaulx of Dorchester (a part that later became Caroline County, MD), probably the son of James2, was written 23 Aug 1771 and proved 27 Feb 1778. This will mentions his wife Sarah and children John and James.

James3 Vaulx drew his will on 18 Jan 1745 and it was proved the same day as his father's will suggesting they both probably died of the same illness. His will mentioned his wife Catherine, sons Josiah and James and daughter Peggy. A prerogative court proceeding on the estate of James3 mentions wife Catherine and lists next of kin as Ebenzer Vaulx and John Vaulx, his probable brothers.
