Found Wm.Grafton Varnes'grave in DesLacs,N.Dak cemetary in summer 1998 while in N.Dak for VARNES/DeBilt Family reunion.He
was brother of my grandfather John Peter Sheets Varnes who homesteaded farm S. of Des Lacs in 1902. Wm.G. buried w/2nd wife and their 2(?) daughters. Ltr.from Wm.'s father
Mitchel to John P.S. indicated emphatically
Wm.G. considered black sheep of family. I'm
new to VARNES family research, but am aware of extensive family research by John Kerr of FL, who is married to Shirley Varnes, daughter of John Glenn Varnes, granddaughter of George Varnes (youngest bro. Wm.G.), great granddaughter of Mitchel.'Hope this adds to the Varnes pool of info. Thanks.
