Looking for origins/descendants/anything about Pvt. Jacob Varnes who was wounded "slightly" at the Battle of Chapultepec in the U.S.-Mexican War on Sept. 13th or 14th,
1847. He was in the 2nd Division, Third Infantry (Regiment?), Company G. Where was he born, raised, where did he spend his adult life, and where did he die and where is he buried? Who were his parents? His offspring? Found this VARNES on www.dmwv.org/honoring/chapmex.htm.
I would be grateful for any info, preferably with sources, you can supply on this person. Thank you.
