Debra, I am also doing research on my family tree of Varnes/Varns. I go back to a Jacob Varns b. abt 1768 d. 3/20/1841 in Fayette, Pa. He married Mary Stauffer b. 1782 d. 2/1865. I have been under the impression that this family came from Germany. But can't make the connection, I think the name might have been Warns or Werntz. But they did come through Pa. and Ohio.
Maybe we can share some info and fit the puzzle together.

Thanks,
Carol O'Daniels
Iowa
