My Henry C. Varnes was the correct age on census. He was born 1857 Lancaster County, Pa. He died October 15, 1941. From the Cleveland Public Library Necrology File:
Varnes, Henry C., beloved husband of Anna M. (nee Zeisel),father of Mrs. Fred C. Kennard, Mrs. Cleo S. Bourgeois and Mrs. P.W.Close, grandfather of Elbert F. Kennard, Russell V. Bourgeois and William H. Close, brother of Mrs. C.M. Lindsay of Lisbon, O. Friends received at the DeVand Funeral Home, 11130 Euclid Ave. Services, Wednesday at 3p.m.
His father was Albert N. Varnes born 12/25/1831 Lancaster County, Pa. died: October 3, 1887 Cleveland, Ohio
Albert was in Civil War Private Co. B 214 Reg.Pa. Inf. Volunteer
Sorry Henry C. Varnes was to young to be in war. Maybe he was named after uncle???
