At the Walpeck Reformed Dutch Church [which was located in Walpack Twp., Sussex Co., NJ, about a mile west of modern Flatbushville in the "Walpack Bend of the Delaware River"] on June 9, 1754Charles "Varway" and his wife Lisabeth Kermer baptised their daughter Hanna.[see page 14 of the Minisink Valley Reformed Dutch Church Records, 1716 - 1830; republished in 1992 by Heritage Press; originally published by NYG&BS].Varway is one of the several and many spelling variations found in the church records for the family, Van Wye being another of the variations.
Where was your David Hays born and raised? Where did he marry your Hanna Van Wye?Where did they live and die? And did they have any children? In the Minisnk Church book I see Benjamin, John, Joseph and perhaps a Frederick Hayns/Hayn listed. Any connections to David? No plain Hays shown. I need to check on my Kermer family research and see if there is any more data about this particular Hanna[h] Van Wye, such as information on her spouse. [Her father had a "probable" sister named Hanna[h] who died in the mid 1740s. This older Hanna "VerWey" was married to James Hyndshaw and they attended in the 1740s the Smithfield, PA Dutch Reformed Church. BTW - James H. and his second wife,Maria DuPuy, did name their third daughter Hannah who shows up in Minisink church records into the 1780s as well.] Two of Hanna Van Wye's brothers,Joseph and Isaac, and their father Charles, who lived into the 1790s, were still residing in Sussex County, NJ in the 1770s. [See brother Joseph Van Wye's will.] Regret I do not recall anything else about this Hanna[h] off the top of my head.
