hello, anyone wondering where the van vliet / van vleet line came from, i can answer this question. for the most part anyway. derek van vliet came to the america's with captain john smith. THE captain john smith, yes. he was infamous for his wooden leg, as his real leg was lost by a drunken man with a gun at a new years eve celebration in the mid 1600's. i am related to him through his illegitimate child with with a schoonover woman. anyone who wants any more info, please feel free to email me.
