According to some info I have, Matthew was the second of eight children. He was born in Ulster Co. NY on May 18,1794 to John and Sarah Van Vleck. Oct 10, 1816 he married Deborah North, who was born in Ulster Co. on Jan 15, 1797. They moved to Delaware co. NY and thence to Ionia (now Ronald), MI.
They had five children; John,1818; Catherine, 1819; Sarah,1822; Peter,1824; and Albert, 1826.
Matthew died in 1880.
My grandfather ( probaly the grandson of Matthew's son John) moved to Seattle from Michigan in about 1910.
