Florence,
William Vantine has been a problem child in the Vantine Genealogy for some time. I have him in my database at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cyocom/ but I don't have anything more on him then you do (but I would certainly like to fill in the blanks on his daughter if you can!!) I suspect that he is a descendant of a group of Vantines which came out of New Jersey (there was another group which came from New York). There is also the possibility that he came from the Adams/Conewago group and opted for Philedelphia when the rest of the family moved West.
Regards,
Carol Van Tine Yocom
