Reading the different family histories concerning Jan Cornelius has left me with more questions. In particular one site has a great outline of the marriage of Jan and Catoneras. It is stated that she was the daughter of Wyandanch and her name was Wuchakittawbut. I have seen this on other information. An addition to this site shows input from another person that believes that Wyandanch was too old to have fathered Catoneras and possibly it was Asharoken whom was her father. I have just read four books on the subject of L.I. Natives and am still confused. Two of these books specifically mention the daughter of Wyandanch and her abduction by Nigrant. Also her affected release by Mr Gardiner. I have read all Mr. Strongs books and also Evan Pritchard's book, "Native New Yorkers" which explains the same story as Mr.Strong in his book. One version on the Web calls Catoneras Wuchakittawbut, the books name her as 'Heather Flower'. Has any VT researched this further in order to determine the correct story. I have become extremely interested in this family and would like to follow through on this particular subject. Thank you for any additional information. Notify Administrator about this message?
