Hello. My husband is a descendant of Lucinda Cynde Vanlee Vantassel Sturm. I have a photo of her if you would like a copy. I have a different marriage date for her and John T. Sturm of 26 Sep 1852 but that is not from an original marriage record, so you date may certainly be correct. Here is what I have on her: Born 23 Oct 1835 Edelstein, Peoria Co, IL , died 29 May Grand Island, Hall Co, NE. Parents: Alanson and Harriet nee Richmond Vantassel both born in NY about 1807 per the census, migrated to Peoria Co. IL. where Lucinda was born. In 1860, John and Lucinda are found in Medina, IL as you state. The name you are unable to read is Oscar, which was what they called William Oscar. In 1870 they are living at LaPrairie, IL with 6 children all born in IL. In 1880 they are at South Platte, Hall Co, NE as STERM (rather than Sturm) and have additional children born in NE on that census. The 1890 census is fragmented and nothing survives for NE. From 1900 to their deaths, both are living in Grand Island, Hall Co, NE and were likely there before 1890. John T. was in service to the Union during the Civil War and was granted a pension, which Lucinda continued to collect after his death. There son, listed as Alonzo and Alonso on several records was actually named Alanson O. and was evidently called Alonso for short. William Oscar Sturm, my mother-in-law's grandfather, was known as Ock. He married Florence A. Roberts and they had 5 children, 4 survived to adulthood. You can probably find more on these Vantassels at Ancestry.com or the LDS site or maybe genealogy.com. Good fortune. Best, Kate
