Dear Linda,

I believe this to be the family you have in mind?

Catherine Elizabeth Van Sicklen, born 1 May 1827, Coney Island, Kings
County, Long Island, died at Bath Beach (near Coney Island) 11 April 1889,
buried 3 days later at New Utrecht, Brooklyn, Kings County, Long Island--the
funeral paid for by her husband Harman [Harriett Mott Stryker-Rodda, Deaths
& Transportations from the records of A.E. Stillwell, Funeral Director (1953)], daughter of Court Van Sicklen and Catherine
Johnson, married 2 January 1846 Harmen Cropsey, born 16 August 1821, died 12
September 1890 [Hennenlotter File, Brooklyn Historical Society].

Catherine Elizabeth Van Sicklen and Harmen Cropsey had issue (all baptisms
recorded at the New Utrecht Reformed Dutch Church):

1.       Catherine Jane Cropsey, born 8 March 1847, baptized 6 August 1847 [New
York Genealogical & Biographical Record114:88].

2.       James Henry Cropsey, born 17 March 1848, baptized 11 August 1848 [New
York Genealogical & Biographical Record114:88].

3.       Courtland Van Sicklen Cropsey, born 5 September 1852, baptized 8 April
1852 [New York Genealogical & Biographical Record114:89].

4.       Harmen Nicholas Cropsey, born 25 July 1854, baptized 6 October 1854 [New
York Genealogical & Biographical Record114:90].

5.       Helenah Wyckoff Cropsey, born 20 February 1856, baptized 8 August 1856
[New York Genealogical & Biographical Record114:90].

6.       Abraham Cropsey, born 15 January 1858, baptized 13 June 1858 [New York
Genealogical & Biographical Record114:91], died 6 May 1859.

7.       Anna Maria Cropsey, born 13 April 1860, baptized 12 January 1861 [New
York Genealogical & Biographical Record114:92].

Within the VS GenForum here, there is an ongoing (and sometimes acrimonious)
discussion of the ancestry of the father of Court Van Sicklen, Cornelius Van
Sicklen (that is, the grandfather of Catherine (Van Sicklen) Cropsey),
between Mr. Van Curen and Mr. Gusman. Following Mr. Van Curen's posts will
help define the Van Sicklen ancestry here. Court Van Sicklen's mother and
his wife were both named Catherine Johnson. Supposedly, Court's wife
Catherine was also a Van Sicklen descendant–but I defer to Mr. Van Curen on
this particular issue.

Richard
