Dear Annalisa,

Please, please, be very certain that you are not a descendant of Zacharias^1 Sickel, not Ferdinandus^1 Van Sichelaer. Despite attempts to interconnect these two individuals, no connection has been determined. This idea has been repeatedly suggested to unsuspecting family researchers in modern times by the likes of Gene Van Sickle, late of Indianapolis, who haven't a clue regarding real genealogy, nor how to approach our subject from a scientific or scholarly fashion.

It is established that certain Sickels descendants adopted the "van" part of Van "Sickelen" and thus confused the independent lineages of these two immigrants.

Please work back from yourself to the next proven ancestor; please cross-post to the Sickels Genforum when not sure

A Dutch Uncle,
