Ed Gusman is still making his noise. It is sad that he wastes evryone's time with his lack of research effort.
Fact: Mr Gusman does NOT have a record of a Luther Eastling marrying anyone whose name is spelled EXACTLY "Maria Van Siclen". If he thinks he does, he should go back and take a close look at the notary's certification of the Bible entry. Thus ends Mr Gusman's childish tantrum regarding his "proof" of exact spelling.
If Mr Gusman's posting is proof of anything, it proves that Maria's surname was NOT Van Siclen. The 1814 date claimed in the notary certification is almost certainly an error in reading. If Mr Gusman wants to do something positive in that regard, he should seek out the actual bible so the entry can be examined. My genealogical experience, of which I have a great deal, and Mr Gusman has none, tells me that it likely reads 1824, based on other known evidence.
Fact: No names were falsified. Knowledgeable researchers are well aware that spelling was NOT a concern in the 1700s and 1800s. Very few families had all their records in one exact spelling...and this family was no difference. His claim that exact spelling is an issue only illustrates his total ignorance of geanology research, as a whole.
Fact: 3 children were NOT deleted. I included those whose names and appx birth dates were known. A statement that the couple had 10 children when only 7 are known, in no way says who the other 3 were, or when they were born. Give me names and dates, with supporting documentation, and I will add them. Unlike Mr Gusman, I don't build family files based solely on family folklore...because family folklore is more often wrong than right. Affadavits don't insure accuracy, as the affadavits of Violet Voorhees DAR application clearly contain false data. Without supporting documentation, the affadavits are simply family folklore...nothing more. Mr Gusman has NO document of any kind which establishes his ridiculous "exact spelling" fantasy.
And as to the description of Mr Gusman being Juvenile.....I think David was giving him too much credit.
