Just one quick note with regard to Mr Gusman's "VAN SICLEN" exact spelling claim. Sorting through my files today, I came across a transcription of a letter dated 23 Jan 1924, written by Violet Voorhees(Maria VS Eastling's granddaughter), addressed to Nellie Eastling Dorwin. Since Violet was 13 when Maria died, I assume she would have at least some knowledge of her grandmother. Below is an EXACT extract from that letter:
"It was on a trip entering New York Harbor that he met Maria Van Sickle, or Van Sicklen as it is sometimes spelled his future wife"
NOWHERE in the entire letter does she EVER use the exact spelling VAN SICLEN. So again I ask, how does Mr Gusman come up with it. If anything, the evidence suggests that exact spelling is INCORRECT. Note that she did use EXACTLY "VAN SICKLEN", the name most commonly used by the Murray family.
Now before Mr Gusman has a chance to cry "LIES" and "DISTORTION", I would like to add that...according to the properties display on the word processing document which contains this transcription, the author of same is:
ED GUSMAN, AUG 11, 1999
And also that everyone on the earlier discussion list of this lineage has a copy of Mr Gusman's text, and can provide a copy reflecting the same information. How do I know that? Where do you think I got it from?
So, please Mr Gusman...explain to us all why the daughter and granddaughter of Maria use spellings of her maiden name OTHER than exactly "VAN SICLEN", the notary claims the bible had belonged to Luther and his wife, whose maiden is listed as OTHER than exactly "VAN SICLEN", the marriage record uses a spelling OTHER than exactly "VAN SICLEN", but you alone has determined, somehow, that "VAN SICLEN" is the right and only spelling to be considered. Your own documents and your own letters say that you are wrong. Explain yourself.
