Peter, b. 1749, Readington, NJ, my 4th great grandfather, was the son of Ferdinand VS and Margrietje Laan(Lane). His father died when he was young, and for a while he was raised by strangers, until his uncle Reynier took him in. He married Catharin Hoffman at Shawangunk, New York in 1774, and their first 4 children were baptised there. Ferdinand's parents were Johannes VS and Jannetje (unk). Johannes was the son of immigrant Ferdinand. T S Bergen's history is more complete than John Waddel's. I have copies of the Shawangunk NY and Clove, New Jersey records, showing the baptisms of Peter's children. Questions? Just ask. My line is Peter, to Elias, to William, to Ira Laforrest, to Jessie...my grandmother.
