Thanks for replying. John Van Syckel is my 4th great grandfather. I think there is some confusion about John Van Syckel (maybe there were 3 John Van Syckels at the time). In rootsweb, there are two listed both born on 9/12/1803 that are listed as a son of David Van Syckel and Mary Opdyke. One has a death of 3/27/1875 (this one married to Anna Sarah Fraley) in Mt. Pleasant, NJ and one has a death of 4/5/1874 (this one married to Sarah Ann Frailey) in Oakland, CA. Are these two differant John's?? If not, why are there two death dates and death locations? If differant, why are they both listed as marrying Sarah Ann Frailey or Anna Sarah Fraley??

In any case, my John Van Syckel doesn't seem to match any of their information. My John was born about 1805 and died between 1860 and June of 1865. He married Hester Ann Smith on Jan 1, 1835 in Hunterdon County, NJ and had children: Mary, Ura, Catherine, Aaron, and Deborah. Ura was my 3rd great grandmother.

Raymond, are you descended from the John Vansyckel that married Sarah Ann Frailey or Anna Sarah Fraley? or the one that married Hester Ann Smith?
