Quite site time ago, before I knew about Zacharias, I was trying to connect a Lambert Van Sickle in Canada to Ferdinandus's line. Then I stumbled on Lambert Van Sickle in New Jersey who was descended from a Zacharias and that was where I saw something about General Sickles. There is a line, that went to Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and I believe that might also be from Zacharias line. I didn't know anything about Indians in my husbands line, but I know they settled along the Mohawk Trail and were friendly with the Mohawks in early days.

Having the references to the General, I think that is a very good indicator as to where your line may fit in. You might try looking at collateral lines around Gen. Sickles time and it might be something that will open doors.

Just this last weekend, I was researching my early family members and I found that my second cousin, once removed is also my 10 half cousin. She is related to the Cornell family twice, once through her gt. grandfathers line and also through her gt. grandmothers line and she is 11th gt granddaughter from both directions. But her father is also her 10th half cousin once removed and half ninth cousin. It just goes to show, families loop around and not always within a few close generations.

You can contact me at my regular e-mail address clvansickle@earthlink.net if you want to send me information. Maybe between the two of us, we can solve some of these mysteries. I have always been interested in the Civil War and the general has been one of my key interests. Also, I found out recently, that the spelling Van Syckle is also the same family. There is a story with the cousin mentioned above and the name Van Syckle and it almost cost me communication with her as her father didn't want to give me her phone number because of my last name. I told him it was no relation, I didn't think it was because my mother-in-law said that the Danish town where they live the name was a Danish spelling of their last name. No so... they are also not far from Grand Rapids and that community is very strong Dutch and Dutch last names. I know that some of the families of Van Sickle over there around Grand Rapids are tied into the Delaware County Van Sickles, but they seem to have descended from Ferdinandus as far as I can determine. However, one of the men from that area gave me information of the Canadian Van Sickles, which included family members of my husband's family, identified as such.

Definately, if your family visited the grave of General Daniel and said he was related, going that far back, I would say that it a very good clue.
