Thanks so much for your reply. It seems like you have quite a collection of info.
The Peter of 1814 was from my grandfather's side, but I also have my grandmother's mother who was also a 'Van Sickle', daughter of Daniel (Esther - who married a Misener)I am totally confused with them all.
It may just be that Peter was a Sickle, as some of the family seemed to add the 'Van' later on. I know his mother went by grandma 'Sickle'.
I also wondered of a story I read on the board, of a Peter Van Sickle of NJ or PA, who was orphaned and his Uncle Reiner took him to another family to learn a trade and he went back to check on him and found him starving and freezing - so took him with him and brought him up. This Reiner went to Ontario, but not sure if he stayed or just went to find a place for Peter. There seems to be no cemetary records in with the other Van Sickles of Jerseyville and St. George etc.
I would like to keep in touch with you.
You can e-mail me at email@example.com to o.k. a personal message.
Thanks for your help.
