Help!!! I am trying to find information on the Vansickles in South Arkansas (Lafayette Co., Columbia Co., Ouachita Co.).
My grandfather, John Chunning Vansickle (b. 04/02/1872) married Alice Lee Friday (b. 03/01/1879). They lived at Lamartine, in Lafayette County. John's father, Benjamin Vansickle married Rissa Proctor(family from Camden, AR) and settled at Buena Vista in Ouachita County. They had 4 children, George, Fannie, Ollie, and John. It is believed George, Fannie, and Ollie went to Texas. John stayed in Arkansas. Benjamin and Rissa are buried at Buena Vista Cem.
I believe Benjamin had 3 brothers. One of the boys owned a gambling boat. When it burnt, he got a livestock boat and transported both livestock and the U.S. Mail up and down Ouachita River and to New Orleans, LA.
