Dear Ed,

DNR means Do Not Resusitate. Which, of course, this conversation is past doing.

Be sure and include in your letter to the DAR concerning my observations of their long-past history, that genealogists are grateful that DAR membership applications nowadays are scrutinized most carefully--with the deligence required by modern standards of proof.

You might also ask them to "pass again" on that membership you hold so dear.

As for my words ("semi-political anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic movement of historically obvious origins), these are mine, though I have no doubt that others have used the same, or very similar, words to describe the origins of so-called "Patriotic Organizations" born in the 19th century.

Yours,

Richard
